
Alexander Mueller is an award-winning Austrian-born furniture designer and maker, based in London and Úbeda, Jaen.
He is a precise, efficient, creative and experienced furniture designer and maker. With a commercially-minded approach, he solves design challenges through a hands-on methodology and his perseverance helps him reach targets well within deadlines.
Confident in constructing design strategies and in delivering commercial, and competitive, product ranges, he is trend- and competitor-aware and identifies new product opportunities and innovation with quality and cost in mind. His design work covers technical experience for a large product range, as well as extensive knowledge of manufacturing processes and working with suppliers and their design teams.

Previously
Previously, Alexander served as Head of Design for Vênoor Living, a sustainable online lifestyle brand. In this role, he was responsible for the overall design direction, overseeing product development from conception through sampling, production, and quality control. His work involved extensive travel to factories worldwide, particularly in Vietnam and India, where he implemented sustainable and ethical practices throughout the supply and production chain.
Alexander's design philosophy focuses on re-examining traditional craftsmanship to highlight the natural beauty of materials and emphasise the intricate details of the making process.
He holds a Foundation Degree in Furniture Making and a BA in Furniture and Product Design from the CASS School of Design.
During his studies, he gained valuable experience through a placement with the Scenic Carpentry Department at The Royal Opera House and an internship at Philip Michael Wolfson Design Studio, where he honed his understanding of materials, colours, and structures.
In 2013, Alexander received the Frederick Parker Award for best contemporary chair design from The Worshipful Company of Furniture Makers and won the Heal’s Discovers Design Competition.
He was also a Designer in Residence at the CASS School of Design and established his own studio that same year. Since then, he has launched products under his own name and engaged in various freelance projects. In 2022, he was selected as a finalist for the Arte Laguna Prize in the Art Design category.
